Born in 1989, Yagmur Telorman Imir, also called “Ymir,” is an independent Turkish artist of Romanian origin based in Thailand.
Interested in raising awareness about social issues, she uses digital painting as a medium to illustrate the problems of modern times, especially the flaws and faults of humankind. Instead of portraying things as they are, she aims at representing them how they should or can be, thus promoting the hope that humans can free their minds and start seeing themselves as equal to each other instead of being blinded by their pride.
On the other hand, she creates traditional watercolor and ink paintings, and contrary to her aims in her digital paintings, her sole purpose in her traditional artworks is to create otherworldly, dreamy, and magical sceneries, especially for children. So, she sometimes calls herself “two artists in a shell.”
Although being a part-time artist and full-time instructor of literature can be tough, Imir cannot help creating to convey her thoughts and feelings to her audience. Today she lives happily in Nakhon Pathom with her husband and her cat.
